The two were originally scheduled to fight in November, but a knee injury forced Sims (22-2-1) off the card.
Ranked fifth in the WBA’s rankings, Duarte (29-2-1) has won three straight since losing against Ryan Garcia in 2023. A four-time National Champion, an impressive win against Joseph Diaz elevated Duarte’s status in the sport.
Sims is ranked fourth. A nine-time National Champion, “Bossman” has eight wins via knockout and is on a nine-fight win streak. Now healthy, Sims looks to erase any doubts about his skills and health.
“It’s not like I pulled out because I didn’t want to fight, I wouldn’t have signed the contract in the first place. That was the biggest opportunity of my entire career, no way I’m backing out of that because I’m scared of somebody,” Sims said via The Ring.
