Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday slammed retired Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai for accusing him of threatening national security and undermining President Bola Tinubu’s authority over last Tuesday’s altercation with naval officers led by Lt. A.M. Yerima in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
Speaking at his Life Camp residence, Wike rejected Buratai’s call for an apology, saying: “He cannot teach me decency.
This is the same man who allegedly ordered his GOC to rig my 2019 election and failed. He wanted me killed, but I survived. Now he’s a polling agent for an APC presidential aspirant, yet lectures me?”Wike defended his actions, insisting the disputed land linked to former Naval Chief Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo was illegally allocated, and that Yerima’s team acted unlawfully by arresting FCT officials.“I represent Mr. President.
That alone demands respect,” Wike said. “You don’t shove a minister. You were executing an illegal order. Even if the order was legal, the action was unlawful.
”He accused Yerima of lacking decorum and warned: “I have no regrets making political opponents sleepless PDP, APC, or ADC.
I stand with the law and President Tinubu.”Wike urged all, regardless of rank, to uphold the rule of law.
