Arsenal defender William Saliba has agreed a new five-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2030, according to BBC Sport.

The 24-year-old France international still had two years left on his existing deal, but the Gunners moved quickly to secure his long-term future amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

Signed from Saint-Etienne in 2019, Saliba spent loan spells at Nice and Marseille before breaking into Mikel Arteta’s side in 2022. Since then, he has made 137 appearances and established himself as a cornerstone of Arsenal’s defence.

Saliba’s commitment follows centre-back partner Gabriel Magalhaes’ decision to extend his stay until 2029, strengthening Arteta’s plans as Arsenal chase Premier League and Champions League success.

The Gunners face Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
