Yuletide: Police Lock Down Anambra Flashpoints, Take Security To The Streets

ONITSHA – As the Yuletide season gathers momentum and public spaces come alive with celebrations, the Anambra State Police Command has rolled out an aggressive, people-focused security architecture aimed at guaranteeing a peaceful and hitch-free festive period across the state.

From major highways and bustling markets to worship centres, motor parks and popular recreational hubs, police operatives have taken visible control of strategic locations, projecting confidence and reassurance to residents and visitors alike. The heightened presence signals a proactive approach to crime prevention, rather than a reaction to threats, as social and economic activities peak during the holidays.

Adding a critical leadership dimension to the operation, the eight Area Commanders in Onitsha, Ihiala, Oraifite, Awka, Aguata, Otuocha, Ogidi and Nnewi have intensified on-the-spot supervision of personnel and logistics. This hands-on oversight is designed to ensure discipline, swift response, and seamless coordination among deployed officers, tactical units and joint security teams.

The Command noted that patrols have been deliberately strengthened in identified flashpoints and high-traffic corridors to deter criminal elements and reinforce public confidence. According to police authorities, the strategy underscores a shift towards preventive policing, community reassurance and rapid intervention throughout the festive season.

Residents have been urged to celebrate responsibly and continue their lawful activities without fear, as the Police Command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property before, during and after the Yuletide festivities.
