Zoning unconstitutional, PDP never insisted on North when Yar’Adua died – Dele Momodu

Veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has maintained that zoning
of presidential ticket is not constitutional.

Momodu said all competent and qualified Nigerians should be
allowed to contest for the presidency.

His comment comes amid the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
zoning of its presidential ticket to the South.

The former ruling party had taken the decision during its
National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in Abuja.

However, Momodu recalled that PDP never zoned after former
President Musa Yar’Adua died.

Posting on X, he wrote: “There was never a zoning. Yar’Adua
died but PDP never insisted on power remaining in the North.

“Jonathan could have governed for a total of 9 years if he
defeated Buhari in 2015.

“OBJ (8) + GEJ (5) + TINUBU (4) from 1999 to 2027=17 years
out of 28=11 years to the North. If Tinubu wins fair and square in 2027, so
be it, and if opposition beats him black and blue, he should pls go back home,
in peace.

“Never. Zoning is not in our Constitution and I believe
every competent and qualified Nigerian should have a chance to run for the
highest office.”
