Zulum commissions College of Nursing, Eye, Dental Hospitals in Monguno

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has commissioned three gigantic health projects in Monguno town of Monguno LGA of the state on Wednesday.

While flagging off the Borno State College of Nursing & Midwifery, Borno State Eye Hospital and Borno State Dental Hospital built, furnished and equipped with sophisticated State of the art equipment and facilities,.

Governor Zulum said the state government will immediately commence the construction of befitting hostel accommodations and staff quarters for both the state and students worth N3 billion which has already been earmarked for the ground laying foundation in addition to the existing ones

Governor Zulum urged the college management to prioritize identifying sites for progress and development. He announced that the state government would soon commence construction of modern offices and housing, funded by a N3 billion allocation.

Zulum highlighted that state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, designed for durability and high standards, have been procured. The hospitals will be upgraded to specialist medical facilities, focusing on optical and dental care, targeting over 5,000 beneficiaries in northern Borno.

He also revealed that the North East Development Commission (NEDC), in partnership with the Borno State Government, will soon rehabilitate the Gajiganna-Gajiram-Monguno road. Zulum tasked the joint security task force in Monguno with safeguarding the health infrastructure for public benefit.

Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Health staff and security agents, Zulum commended their contributions to the three major health projects aimed at improving living conditions in Monguno and surrounding areas.

He urged security forces to ensure community access to farmlands to boost agricultural production and food security.

The Borno State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Baba Gana, praised the governor’s vision in establishing these health institutions for the benefit of Monguno and northern Borno.

He emphasized that the facilities are equipped with high-quality, standard equipment comparable to top-tier health institutions, promising significant progress and improved healthcare services.

Prof. Gana committed to implementing the governor’s directives, including providing hostel accommodations for male and female students, as well as constructing additional offices and staff quarters.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Monguno LGC, Alhaji Limanti Alhaji Kalla welcomed and appreciated th Governor and his entourage while the Provost of the College, Aji Bukar thanked the governor establishing such college at the right place and time.

He promised to develop the college and carry it to greater heights with the support of the state government while pledging to improve on the quality and standard of studies of the state college with the support of staff and government.

Bukar promised never to disappoint the governor and will repose the confidence bestowed on him by the government and people .

Senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno appreciated the governor for his efforts and concern for the people of Monguno and northern Borno.

Zulum later flagged off the distribution of 350 units solar panels , bags of fertilizer and irrigation water pump machines respectively as empowerment scheme for 350 beneficiaries from Monguno town SUBEB Primary school.
