2027: “Tickets won’t be gifted arbitrarily” – NDC national leader vows as party prepares for primaries

Senator Seriake Dickson, national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC), has declared that tickets of the party will not be allocated arbitrarily ahead of its primaries for the 2027 elections.

Senator Dickson spoke after meeting members of the NDC screening committee constituted to interface with aspirants seeking tickets for various elective offices.

The former Bayelsa governor said the increasing number of aspirants seeking to contest on the platform of the NDC reflects growing confidence in the party across the country.

According to him, the development indicates that the NDC is emerging as a credible alternative platform for democratic change and national renewal.

Dickson said members of the screening committee must approach their assignment with fairness, wisdom and a proper understanding of political realities across states and constituencies.

He wrote on Facebook: “I emphasized that the committee should not see itself as a panel for arbitrary disqualification, but rather as a body that will engage aspirants constructively.

“I also reiterated that in the NDC, tickets will not be gifted arbitrarily, as our party remains committed to consultation, merit, competence, and the wishes of stakeholders and the electorate at the grassroots.”

Dickson thanked aspirants for showing confidence in the NDC and described them as important stakeholders in the party’s growth.

He also commended members of the screening committee for accepting to undertake the assignment.

Dickson urged party members in Rivers to strengthen the structure of the NDC ahead of the election season.

“The future of our party depends greatly on our ability to build a transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented political culture,” he said.

“With the commitment and sacrifice of our members across the country, we remain confident that the NDC will continue to grow stronger and offer Nigerians the credible leadership they desire,” he added.
