Rapper Sean Kingston, Mother Sentenced To Prison For m Fraud Scheme

August 16, (THEWILL) — Jamaican-American rapper, Kisean Anderson, popularly known as Sean Kingston, has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a million-dollar fraud scheme. His mother, Janice Turner, received a five-year sentence in the same case.

Kingston and his mother were convicted of defrauding multiple victims by ordering luxury items—including a $230,000 TV, designer watches, and a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade—while providing fake payment receipts.

Prosecutors said Kingston and his mother used his celebrity status to contact vendors through social media, promising to promote their products or connect them with other stars.

Court documents presented damning text messages to prove that they planned the scam together.

While most victims never received payment, authorities confirmed some recovered funds only after legal intervention or police involvement.

During sentencing, Kingston expressed remorse, telling the court he had “learned from his mistakes.”

Kingston’s attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, said the singer struggled with financial management after his sudden rise to fame.

The rapper, who is also known for hits like Beautiful Girls, Fire Burning, and Take You There was arrested in 2024 in California.

His arrest happened after authorities raided his home, where his mother was taken into custody.

Both will begin serving their sentences immediately.
