August 26, (THEWILL) — Operatives of the Nigeria Police Anti-Terrorism Squad have arrested Ramzy Ibrahim Abusafiah, the leader of the Palestinian community in Nigeria.
According to a report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, Abusafiah was picked up at his Abuja residence on Friday, August 22, by heavily armed operatives over alleged links to terrorism-related activities.
Abusafiah, a Palestinian-Nigerian born on August 23, 1973, has lived in the country for nearly five decades.
He is widely known for his advocacy for peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly the occupation of Gaza and the annexation of the West Bank.
As of press time, neither the Nigerian security agencies nor the Palestinian Embassy in Nigeria had issued an official statement on the arrest.
