The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has refuted an advertorial being circulated online that it is conducting a recruitment exercise.
In a statement released through its X handle on Wednesday, INEC said the purported advertisement on social media did not emanate from its office.
The commission explained that it does not own or run the website being used for the ‘illicit recruitment’. INEC urged the general public to disregard the fake advertorial and avoid inputting their details into any portal which did not originate from the agency.
The electoral body wrote, “Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is recruiting for various positions.
“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – http://inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal.
“The Commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The Commission IS NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements.”
