Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the disbursement of N596.6 million for cars and housing loans to 807 teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools in the state.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Michael Boluwade, the funds are part of efforts to improve the welfare and morale of the beneficiaries.
Out of the total amount approved, N381.5 million is allocated for car loans to 382 beneficiaries, while N215.1 million will be disbursed as housing loans to 425 beneficiaries.
“The loans, which are in accordance with the new rate of 100 per cent increase earlier approved by the governor, will be paid to qualified personnel of the commission,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for approving additional funds to complement the revolving funds of the commission’s Loans Board.
He advised the beneficiaries to use the loans for their intended purposes and reminded them that repayment would be made through direct deductions from their monthly salaries.
The statement noted that the development is part of the state government’s efforts to enhance workers’ welfare, following the implementation of various programs and policies that positively impacted workers’ lives.
The initiatives, according to the statement, include the disbursement of N400 million in house and vehicle loans to over 1,447 staff, recruitment of subject teachers, employment of primary school teachers and education officers, and approval of career progression for primary school teachers.
