Naija News reports that Wike, while speaking at the 108th PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the faction in Abuja on Monday, dared the faction loyal to Taminu Turaki to hold their meeting at the National Secretariat.
Wike also commended the National Working Committee (NWC) under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed for securing the PDP Headquarters for members.
Wike further commended the loyalty of members who did not defect to other political parties during the crisis and urged them to always remain committed to the party.
3. ADC Denies Discussions With PRP Over 2027 Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has categorically denied reports that it is discussing with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) on the possibility of using the platform for the 2027 elections.
The denial was made in a statement on Monday by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who added that the party is not in any anticipatory talks with any party ahead of the expected court ruling.
He explained that the coalition leaders have no plan to dump the ADC, and such reports should be dismissed.
Naija News reports that the clarification follows the claim by the PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, who said several opposition politicians have approached the party to work with it ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, several politicians have reached out to the party in the last three to four weeks about joining the party.
Speaking on Arise News, Ahmed disclosed that the doors of the party are open to welcome interested persons and groups, including the African Democratic Coalition (ADC) leaders.
4. Supreme Court Adjourns Kano Emirate Dispute Till 2027
The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the matter before it over the Kano Emirate dispute to April 19, 2027.
Naija News recalls that the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido, have been locked in a legal dispute over the Kano Emirate traditional stool.
The apex court held its first hearing in the long-running legal battle on Monday and immediately adjourned proceedings to April 19, 2027.
The court’s decision comes after parties in the protracted dispute presented their preliminary arguments.
The case was initiated by Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, who is challenging the Kano State Government and State Assembly over the repeal of the 2019 Kano Emirates Law, the dissolution of the five emirates created during the administration of Abdullahi Ganduje, and the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who was dethroned in 2020.
5. Pension: Retired Police Officers Protest At Aso Rock
Retired police personnel and their families, under the aegis of the Police Retired Officers Forum of Nigeria, on Monday staged a protest at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, blocking one of its gates.
The retirees said the demonstration was against the continued inclusion of the Nigeria Police Force in the Contributory Pension Scheme.
They described the scheme as “fraudulent, illegal, inhumane, and obnoxious.”
The protesters urged President Bola Tinubu to assent to the Police Exit Bill passed by the National Assembly on December 4, 2025.
According to them, the bill was transmitted to the Presidency on March 16, 2026.
They argued that when signed into law, the legislation would exempt police personnel from what they termed a “slavery and untimely death-inducing pension scheme.”
The protest was led by the National Coordinator of the forum, Raphael Irowainu. Speaking to journalists, Irowainu said the core objective was to press for immediate presidential assent.
6. I Was Tricked Into Attending ADC Handover To David Mark – Nafiu Bala
A fresh twist has emerged in the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as factional leader Nafiu Bala has accused former national chairman Ralph Nwosu of misleading him into attending a key party event.
Naija News reports that Bala, who spoke during an interview on AIT on Monday, said he was invited to what he believed was a simple gathering to receive new members into the party. However, he claimed he later realized that the event was actually organised to unveil a new leadership structure led by David Mark.
He explained that the situation became clear to him only after proceedings had already begun, adding that the event turned out to be more than what he was initially told. According to him, the occasion also coincided with Nwosu stepping down from his position while announcing a new set of party executives.
Bala said the development marked a major turning point in the internal disputes within the party. He noted that the announcement of David Mark and other leaders into top positions during the same event raised concerns among some members, including himself.
7. ‘I Don’t Believe In Paying Tithe To Church’ – Zubby Michael
Nollywood actor, Zubby Michael, has said he does not believe in paying tithe to the church.
Naija News reports that Zubby made this known during an interview with Broadway TV, declaring himself the richest actor.
The movie star claimed that he recently earned ₦102 million from movie roles and donated ₦10.2 million to the needy on the street as a tithe.
He further explained that he made the donation to the needy because he does not go to church or believe in paying tithes there.
8. Why Modern Marriages Don’t Last – Don Jazzy
Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has stirred reactions online after sharing a humorous take on why many modern marriages appear to end faster than those of earlier generations.
Naija News reports that in a video that quickly gained attention on social media, the head of Mavin Records used wedding cakes as a playful way to compare relationships in the past with those of today.
He explained that in earlier times, couples often used fruit cakes prepared with alcohol for their weddings.
According to his explanation, those cakes were known to last for a very long period, sometimes up to a year, allowing couples to preserve part of the cake and eat it again during their first wedding anniversary.
He suggested that the long-lasting nature of those cakes symbolically reflected the endurance of marriages during that era.
The music producer then contrasted this with modern wedding trends, noting that many couples now prefer butter or ice-cream-style cakes that spoil quickly if not properly stored.
He humorously implied that the short lifespan of such cakes mirrors the shorter duration seen in some present-day marriages.
9. Odegaard Insists Arsenal Can Still Win Premier League Title
Martin Odegaard insists Arsenal remain firmly in the hunt for the Premier League trophy despite a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The result sees the Gunners’ lead at the top of the table cut to just three points. With Pep Guardiola’s side holding a game in hand to be played this Wednesday, the momentum in the title race appears to have shifted toward the North West.
However, the Arsenal captain remains adamant that the London club can bounce back.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Norwegian international highlighted the fine margins that separated the two heavyweights.
10. Leicester City Face Possible Relegation To League One On Tuesday
Leicester City are staring at relegation to League One, with their fate potentially sealed as early as Tuesday night, April 21.
The Foxes must beat Hull City to keep their slim survival hopes alive. Even then, results elsewhere could still confirm their relegation before the week is out.
It is a stark fall for a club that stunned football by winning the Premier League title at 5,000-1 odds in 2016. That triumph came just seven years after they climbed out of League One. Now, barely a decade on, they risk returning to the third tier, only five years after lifting the FA Cup.
Saturday’s defeat to Portsmouth has left Leicester eight points from safety with only nine points left to play for.
Relegation would mark their second drop in consecutive seasons and a third in four years.
Tensions have begun to spill over. Midfielder Harry Winks was involved in a heated exchange with supporters after the loss at Fratton Park, responding angrily as the squad boarded the team bus.
