Businessman Isaac Fayose has opened up on his experience with 25 of his tenants at his estate in Abuja Isaac Fayose, in a viral video, shared how his tenants teamed up to drag him to court The businessman also disclosed the amount the 25 tenants owe him, igniting reactions online Businessman Isaac Fayose has left many Nigerians talking after he revealed that his tenants at his estate in Abuja dragged him to a Magistrate Court in Wuse, Zone 6, Abuja, for allegedly threatening their lives.
In a video making the waves online, Fayose, who had previously opened up on his failed business ventures, lamented his ongoing battle with tenants, alleging that they have refused to pay rent for over three years.
Fayose disclosed that about 25 of his tenants occupying 24 flats and a restaurant in his estate owe him a total of ₦287 million in rent.
According to the businessman, rather than paying the rent they owe him, the 25 tenants filed a case against him, alleging that he threatened their lives.
Fayose disclosed that since being dragged to court over the dispute, he has spent ₦48 million in legal fees in five different courts.
The businessman criticised the Nigerian judiciary, claiming it enabled the situation.
According to Fayose, the constant adjournments by the court gave his tenants the avenue to avoid paying rent.
“Can you stay abroad in someone’s house for over three years without paying rent and still drag the owner to court? This is what we go through in this country,” Fayose lamented.
“The injustice in our land is so much that poverty is inevitable. I’m in court today again… Tenants trying to jail landlord after staying in my house for 3 years without paying. The tenants are owing 287 million naira as at today I have spent over 47 million on legal fees .. How can a country run on wickedness???” he added in the caption.
