Tinubu to lead talks on energy security at SEF 2025 in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead high-level discussions on sustainable energy security as Abuja hosts the second edition of the Sustainable Energy Forum (SEF) from September 28 to 30, 2025.

The three-day event, regarded as Africa’s premier sustainability gathering for the energy sector, will bring together global and regional stakeholders to shape strategies for Nigeria’s and the continent’s energy future.

Tinubu, who also serves as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, will deliver the keynote address at the forum. This year’s theme will spotlight sustainable energy security as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic transformation under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

SEF 2025 will convene energy professionals, policymakers, regulators, investors, and development partners to address pressing challenges and opportunities across Africa’s energy landscape. Discussions will cover sustainable oil and gas exploration, energy production, storage, trade, and supply. Organisers also announced that the forum will unveil CRET solutions designed to ensure clean, affordable, and reliable energy access, which they described as indispensable for long-term stability and economic security.

Policy reviews of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), digital transformation of government processes, job creation, and regulatory reforms aimed at boosting transparency and sustainability will form key parts of the agenda. Stakeholders believe SEF 2025 could influence global trade flows, unlock billions of dollars in climate finance and renewable gas projects, and launch new sustainable energy initiatives.

Nduka Ofulue of JODOR Asset Management Ltd, in a statement, stressed the importance of the forum: “Our climate feeds off our activities on planet earth; hence the Sustainable Energy Forum will focus on sustainable energy security and will encompass cutting-edge research and development activities with climate-friendly policies as a key objective of energy optimisation.”

The event will also highlight Africa’s pivotal role in the global energy future, leveraging its vast renewable resources and youthful, entrepreneurial population.

Confirmed attendees include representatives of the African Union, national and international oil companies (NOCs and IOCs), NGOs, the World Bank, the United Nations, and members of the diplomatic community.

The Sustainable Energy Forum (SEF) is designed for stakeholders across the entire energy value chain, including power, gas, renewables, technology, policy, regulation, and market development.
