The administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commenced the digitization of Adamawa State Government archives in a move aimed at modernizing records management and boosting administrative efficiency.
The project, which is being implemented through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), will see thousands of government documents and records converted into digital formats for easier storage, access, and preservation.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Barr. Awwal D. Tukur the digitization initiative is designed to achieve multiple objectives, including:
• Faster access to historical documents and government records
• Enhanced security of sensitive information
• Streamlined retrieval and management of files across MDAs
• Cost savings on manual storage and paper-based processes
• Promotion of transparency and accountability in governance

The SSG further described the initiative as a milestone in the state’s drive toward digital transformation under the Adamawa 2.0 agenda.
“This project represents a decisive step towards building a modern, efficient, and accountable public service. By digitizing our archives, we are safeguarding the state’s history, making information more accessible, and reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks,” the SSG said.
He added that the digitization process would also support the work of researchers, policymakers, and future administrations by providing quick access to accurate records, thereby strengthening institutional memory.
The digitization will incorporate secure backup and cloud solutions to ensure the long-term protection of state records, even in cases of physical damage or emergencies.
The Fintiri administration has made digital innovation and e-governance a central part of its development agenda, with ongoing projects ranging from smart education initiatives to digital broadcasting and ICT infrastructure.
