‘I Was Supposed To Be Shot In Failed Coup Against Tinubu’ – Gen. Musa

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has said there were plans to shoot him in the failed coup against President Bola Tinubu .

Naija News recalls that in October 2025, the military arrested sixteen officers over acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations.

After an initial denial, the Director, Major General Samaila Uba, in a statement, disclosed that findings have identified several officers accused of a plot to overthrow the government, which is inconsistent with the ethics, values, and professional standards required of members of the AFN.

Part of the statement read, “Accordingly, those with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before an appropriate military judicial panel to face trial in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.”

“This ensures accountability while upholding the principles of fairness and due process.”

General Musa, who is the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, said he was one of the targets of the failed military coup and was meant to be shot by the orchestrators.

He said, “I was also a target, I am sure you know.

“I was supposed to be arrested, and if I refused, I was supposed to be shot.”
