Lookman completes move to Atletico Madrid

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has completed his move from Italian Serie A side Atalanta to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

The Nigerian star penned a contract with Atletico until June 2030, with the Spanish club sealing the deal for around £30.3m.

The 28-year-old started his professional career with Charlton Athletic before playing for Everton, Fulham, Leicester City.

At Atalanta, Lookman registered 55 goals, and 27 assists in 137 games for the Bergamo club, including a historic hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League Final.

Commenting on the move, Atalanta wrote on their X handle: “Ademola Lookman has joined Atletico de Madrid on a permanent transfer. Thank you for everything and best of luck in the future, Mola!”

Recall that Lookman was named African Footballer of the Year in 2024, and was also the only African player on the men’s Ballon d’Or shortlist that year, finishing 14th.
