Kano, Kano State – The Kano zonal directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, arrested a Kannywood star, Samha Inuwa, over alleged Naira mutilation.
Legit.ng reports that Inuwa was arrested following a viral video circulated on social media platforms where she was seen conspicuously cleaning mucus from her nose using Naira notes.

Source: Original Following the release of the viral video, the EFCC said it swung into action by tracing and subsequently arresting her to answer questions.
She is currently being held at the commission’s detention facility while the probe is ongoing.
Legit.ng understands that the suspect will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.

EFCC: Kaduna court jails man In a piece of related news, a Kaduna State High Court has convicted and sentenced Emmanuel Kachina, also known as “Johnny Depp,” to one year’s imprisonment for cybercrime and impersonation.
The conviction was secured on Tuesday, February 3, by the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC before Justice Khobo Darius, sitting in Kaduna.

Source: Twitter Kachina was arraigned on charges relating to cybercrime and impersonation, offences contrary to relevant provisions of Nigeria’s cybercrime laws. He pleaded guilty to the charges, prompting the court to proceed with sentencing.
Justice Darius consequently sentenced the defendant to one year’s imprisonment, underscoring the judiciary’s resolve to curb cyber-related offences and identity fraud.

Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Makurdi has sentenced the managing director (MD), Builderstech Solution Limited, Agene Johnson Godwin, to 48 years imprisonment without option of fine for defrauding over 5,000 unsuspecting victims to the tune of over N500,000,000.
Johnson was convicted on an amended 8 count charge brought against him by the EFCC.
Godwin was found to have collected funds from members of the public under false pretences, promising high and unrealistic returns on investment.

They are alleged to have swindled an indigenous construction and equipment supply firm, Diamond Leeds Limited, of multiple billions of naira, while posing as contract facilitators linked to major government agencies.
The two defendants were brought before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Zuba, to answer a 55-count charge bordering on advance fee fraud and forgery, to which they pleaded not guilty on all counts.
