Why I Haven’t Remarried 9 Years After My Divorce – Damilola Adegbite

Nollywood actress,  Damilola Adegbite, has opened up on why she has not remarried since her divorce from Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh in 2017.

Naija News reports that the actress, who shares a son named Brian with her ex-husband, said her decision is shaped by the responsibilities of being a single parent.

Adegbite, in a video on her Instagram story, explained that dating as a single parent requires careful thought. She said choosing a partner is no longer just about personal feelings; it also involves considering the person’s ability to be a good parent and the environment they would create for her child.

The Merry Men actress pointed out that character, morals, and values are key factors in deciding who to bring into her and her son’s lives. She also cautioned against rushing into relationships for emotional comfort.

She said, “You’re not just choosing a partner for yourself anymore. You are choosing a second parent for your child. It’s not that I haven’t met some amazing men. There is a deeper question… do they have the morals, the values, the character that I would like my child to grow around?

“You have to be sure that the person you are bringing into your life and into your child’s life is capable of being a good parent. Someone who would treat your child like theirs. Because at the end of the day, you are not just building a relationship, you are building a home. Choose wisely.”

Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh met while working on the soap opera Tinsel, welcomed their son in 2014, and married privately in Accra, Ghana, in February 2015.

Their marriage lasted about two years before they divorced in September 2017.
