The Agona Nkwanta District Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old ex-convict, Kudjo Ntow, following the horrific rape and murder of his wife’s 17-year-old niece, Olivia Kwofie, in the Western Region.
According to an official press release from the Western Regional Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026, throwing the local community into deep mourning.
Police revealed that the suspect used super glue to seal the teenager’s mouth before assaulting her and going into hiding.
The details of the crime came to light around 3:30 AM on the day of the incident, when a resident, Samuel Kingsford Kwofie, heard desperate screams for help while walking to his rubber plantation.
Near the School B area and the local Fire Service Station, he discovered Olivia naked on the ground, with her hands and feet tightly bound with rope.
He quickly untied the young girl and attempted to escort her to the nearest police station for safety.
However, Ntow ambushed them from behind, striking Olivia with a heavy cement block before fleeing back into the darkness.
Police officers rushed to the scene after receiving the report and found Olivia lying in a pool of blood with severe cuts across her face.
She was immediately taken to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic for emergency medical treatment, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
A coordinated manhunt by the Regional Police Intelligence team and local officers quickly tracked Ntow to a hideout in Nsuaem, where he was apprehended on Tuesday, June 2.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the suspect was arraigned before the Appollo Circuit Court in Takoradi and remanded into prison custody.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 17, 2026, as police investigations continue.
