James Harden has found himself entangled in legal issues.
The prominent NBA player was apprehended and charged with unlawful weapon possession in Houston, Texas, on June 13, as revealed by Harris County court documents accessed by various news outlets.
Harden, aged 36, was taken into custody at approximately 3:40 a.m. ET after being stopped by police in downtown Houston. During the stop, officers discovered a handgun in his vehicle, which was openly visible and not secured in a holster, according to the documents. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard was subsequently detained and charged with a misdemeanor. Reports from the Houston Chronicle indicate that he was released on bond a few hours later.
As part of his bond conditions, Harden is prohibited from possessing firearms, ammunition, or any other weapons, according to the court records. Moreover, as he awaits his court appearance scheduled for June 22, he must undergo random urine tests and is forbidden from using or possessing alcohol, drugs, or any controlled substances unless they are medically prescribed.
E! News has reached out to Harden’s representative for a statement but has yet to receive a response.
