FT. GORDON, Ga. () – A former soldier from Ft. Gordon has confessed to charges of second-degree murder.
Natravien R. Landry, aged 27, from Abbeville, Louisiana, previously served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He admitted to committing second-degree murder and using a firearm during a violent crime, which resulted in the death of U.S. Army Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr.
At the time of the incident, Landry was part of the 1148th Transportation Company stationed at Fort Gordon. In the early hours of December 14, 2024, he visited the on-base apartment of a woman with whom he shares a child.
Upon noticing a car parked outside, Landry suspected another man was present. He entered the apartment, went upstairs to the bedroom, and discovered Stewart with two children. Knowing Stewart was unarmed, Landry shot him in the chest. Stewart was later declared dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, Landry fled Fort Gordon but was apprehended roughly three hours later on Interstate 85, south of Atlanta. The Meriwether County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office conducted the traffic stop that led to his arrest.
Deputies recovered a 9 mm Glock pistol that testing proved was used in the shooting.
No word on what his sentence will be.
