He emphasised that while the police will respect the constitutional right to picket, they will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward lawlessness.

The police chief clarified that security agencies have no intention of blocking peaceful citizens, but warned that any transition from picketing to vandalism would trigger an immediate law enforcement response.

“We have no problem. Kenyans will continue with their day-to-day activities. Those who will cause chaos will be dealt with according to the law. I want to say Kenyans are free to continue with their work. We will provide security to all Kenyans and those who will cause trouble will be arrested,” Lagat stated on Saturday, June 20. War on “Goon Culture” A major focus of the security strategy is preventing organised criminal gangs from infiltrating the demonstrations to loot businesses or assault protestors.

Lagat revealed that intelligence-led operations have been scaled up nationwide to dismantle these networks before June 25.

He specifically appealed to young people to resist being manipulated into violence, declaring that the era of political thuggery is drawing to a close.

“I want to urge the youth not to allow themselves to be used to destroy the peace. We have no place for goons. We are on high gear to ensure we destroy goon culture very soon,” Lagat warned. The DIG concluded by reiterating that the public and business owners should proceed with their schedules without fear, promising that law enforcement remains highly vigilant to ensure peace prevails.
