Fabio Paratici ‘steps back’ from Tottenham director role – 101 Great Goals

Tottenham Hotspur Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici has stepped back from his role at the Premier League club, it has been confirmed.

For those who may have missed it, news of Paratici’s decision comes after the Italian was hit with a fresh sanction earlier in the week.

After previously being banned from all activities relating to Italian football owing to alleged ‘financial malpractice’ during his time at Juventus, FIFA confirmed that they had extended the Spurs chief’s ban globally.

This marked, for obvious reasons, a heavy blow for Tottenham, amid a crucial period for the powers that be in north London on the back of the dismissal of Antonio Conte.

In turn, it hasn’t come as a massive surprise, on Friday, to hear of Paratici coming to a decision on his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As per a report from the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic:

‘Fabio Paratici has stepped back from his role as Tottenham Hotspur managing director of football pending the outcome of his appeal against a worldwide ban from football.’

The appeal in question is set to to be heard next month, when Paratici will be joined by 10 former Juventus executives in front of the Italian Olympic Committee, to hit back at the FIGC.

All 11 have vehemently denied any wrongdoing in a case which earlier this year culminated in Juve being hit with a 15-point Serie A deduction.

After meeting with his fellow Tottenham board members earlier in the day, Paratici informed the club’s playing squad of the joint-decision regarding his position on Friday afternoon.
