Uncertainty surrounds Tinubu’s return date

Close allies of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are unsure of when he will return to Nigeria from his foreign trips.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Tinubu on March 22 travelled abroad “to rest” and plan his transition programme ahead of the May 29 inauguration.

His associates said the former Lagos State governor would rest in Paris, France; and London, United Kingdom (UK), preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan fasting that began on March23.

With the fasting ending on April 23, it is not certain if the President-Elect would return immediately.

One of his spokesmen said on Sunday night he was not sure when Tinubu would return. “I don’t know. I am not too sure,” Vanguard quotes the aide as saying.

Another aide stated that the 71-year-old deserved adequate rest after the hectic campaigns and might not be in a hurry to return.
