April 13, (THEWILL) – Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, is set for further contract talks with the club, which could dent Liverpool’s hopes of signing him.
Mount is approaching the final year of his current deal and has been warned that he will be sold this summer if he continues to reject the chance to extend. Liverpool are one of several English Premier League clubs reportedly interested in the academy graduate.
However, Chelsea have always been confident about their chances of retaining Mount and are now said to be feeling optimistic about the midfielder’s future at the club. Another round of negotiations has been scheduled for the coming weeks, and the Blues’ new managerial plans are believed to be impressive enough to convince Mount to stay.
Although an agreement remains some way off, Chelsea are reportedly willing to agree to a shorter contract, which could be seen as a positive development.
