Assistant Referee Hatzidakis To Face No Further Action In Robertson Elbow Incident

April 14, (THEWILL) – The England Football Association has announced that assistant referee, Constantine Hatzidakis, will face “no further action”, after appearing to elbow Liverpool’s Andy Robertson during their recent match against Arsenal.

As THEWILL reported, the incident occurred during half-time when Robertson approached Hatzidakis, resulting in the Liverpool players surrounding the referee to protest the incident. Robertson was then booked for his actions.

Earlier this week, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), confirmed that Hatzidakis had been suspended from officiating matches while under investigation. However, the FA has now concluded its review and found no reason to take further action against the assistant referee.

In a statement, the FA said: “We have thoroughly reviewed all of the evidence… and we will be taking no further action.” Hatzidakis also issued a statement, apologising for the incident and expressing his desire to return to officiating matches.

“It was certainly not my intention to make any contact with Andy as I pulled my arm away from him… I look forward to returning to officiating matches,” he said.
