Has again doused speculations over his future by assuring the leadership of the NFF that he will see through what is remaining of his contract.
The 48-year-old coach has been linked with various jobs both in Africa and beyond after he led Nigeria to finish third at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
His agents have also moved fast to table proposals for a new deal for the coach that would include a huge pay rise and more oversight responsibilities.
However, a top official told SCORENigeria today: “Eric has maintained he will respect his contract with the NFF and has no plans to leave before the contract is up. “That’s good because leading the Super Eagles is great for his profile as well, it’s not just anybody who gets a chance to head one of Africa’s top teams.”
The former Mali coach is due in Nigeria soon during which time he will watch the final weeks of the NPFL with the view to calling up players from the domestic league for the Unity Cup in London next month.
Eric Chelle’s contract will run out in January 2027 with an option for an additional year.
