Umlazi anti-illegal immigrant protesters, during a march on Monday, 22 June 2026, warned South African landlords that they could face arrest if they allow foreign nationals to rent their residences for a tuckshop business.
The march took place from Umlazi D section park and ended at Tehuis Park near Umlazi Mega City Mall.
Marchers said the peaceful march was held to ask illegal foreigners to leave South Africa by Tuesday, 30 June 2026.
PROTESTERS SAY LANDLORDS MIGHT FACE ARREST OVER FOREIGN TUCKSHOP TENANTS
With a memorandum on her hand, a March and March member said that all landlords in the area will face the might of the law should they rent out their residences for tuckshops to illegal foreigners from their premises.
March and March, an anti-illegal immigration organisation, together with other protesters, said they were giving all undocumented foreigners until 30 June 2026 to leave the country and return to their home countries.
Amongst the marchers was Abanqobi Gospel Group singer Malusi Mbokazi, who said that as a community member of Umlazi, it was important for him to show up as both a resident and an artist.
Mbokazi said that although he cannot speak on behalf of his fellow industry mates, he encouraged all South Africans to come together and voice their concerns.
“(Translated from IsiZulu)If we also fight for the country, maybe more people will also come and join. To those who are still scared, as you can see, today there was a peaceful march, and no one was beaten or hurt; it was just peaceful,” said Mbokazi.
“THERE IS NOTHING UNDER CONTROL. WE ARE IN CHARGE OF THIS COUNTRY,” SAYS NGIZWE MCHUNU
Anti-illegal immigrant activist Ngizwe Mchunu said that most South African politicians only care about themselves. “South African politicians always claim to have everything under control. There is nothing under control; we are in charge of this country,” said Mchunu.
