6 abducted law school students regain freedom

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the safe rescue of six Nigerian Law School students from the Yola Campus who were kidnapped last week.

Police spokesperson DSP Edet Udeme announced the development in a statement issued in Makurdi on Friday.

Udeme said the victims, who had been abducted on July 26 while travelling along the Joota–Wukari Federal Highway, regained their freedom in the early hours of Friday.

“They have been released and reunited with their families this morning, Aug. 1.

“They were abducted on the Joota/Wukari Federal Highway and were rescued on the High Tension Road, Wukari Taraba,” she added.

The police said the students were first taken to the Ukum Divisional Police Headquarters for formal procedures before being handed over to their families.
