The Federal Government has released the second instalment of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears to federal civil servants, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The government had previously settled one month out of the five months in outstanding arrears. With the latest payment, three more tranches remain to be cleared.
The statement, signed by Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, clarified that the administration has not defaulted on the promised payments.
“Contrary to insinuations in some quarters, the Federal Government had not reneged on payment of the wage award arrears,” the OAGF noted, assuring that payments would continue in monthly instalments of ₦35,000 until the entire backlog is fully paid.
