Police speak on alleged behe@ding of Adamawa CAN chairman

The Adamawa State Police Command has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command described the claim — shared by a Facebook user identified as “Lionman Lioni” — as a false and malicious post aimed at spreading fear and fuelling religious tension among residents.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had dismissed the rumour, stressing that “no such incident has been recorded anywhere in Adamawa State.”

He urged members of the public to disregard the misleading report and ensure they verify information from credible sources before sharing it further.

The Commissioner, according to Nguroje, has also ordered an investigation to track down and prosecute those responsible for the viral misinformation.
