The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Edo State government have disagreed over the one-year anniversary of Governor Monday Okhpebholo’s administration.
The State Chairman of the PDP, Dr Tony Azeigbemi, described Okpebholo’s one year in office as a wasted opportunity marked by policy paralysis and institutional regression.
He alleged that the governor had returned the state to the control of political godfathers previously resisted by former governor Godwin Obaseki.

“Edo has been recaptured by external handlers, reversing the people’s victory over godfatherism.”
Unknown assailants kill 2 women, burn house in Kano Katsina: Peace deals without peace Azeigbemi also claimed that the only vibrant department under Okpebholo was propaganda.
“Rather than build, they spend taxpayers’ money attacking perceived enemies- Obaseki, the PDP, journalists, and civil society group.
“While other states are consolidating reforms, driving innovation, and expanding growth, Edo has tragically returned to the pre-Obaseki era, defined by ignorance, propaganda, and era where people believe state money are meant to be shared.”
Responding, the State Commissioner for Information, Kassim Afegbua, described the PDP’s claims as untrue.
He said, “Responding to PDP is like watching bunch of comedians looking for spectators. We are too busy to be distracted by the rantings of such political party with dithering nomenclature.”
“From flyover to roads infrastructure, from Schools repair to primary health care projects, Governor Okpebholo has turned Edo into a construction site, but those PDP and their coupon clippers who are used to deceit, driven by propaganda, cannot rationalize good governance when they see one.
“We are not pretenders like them or economic predators who pillaged Edo resources like famished baboons let loose into banana plantations. We are delivering on our promises and making sure there is value for money.” he said
