I will not fight my predecessors – Gov. Eno

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has dismissed insinuations that his relationship with former governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has turned sour owing to his movement to the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

Eno who stated that he will never denigrate Udom Emmanuel who is his political godfather and ensured he emerged as governor of the state, said he was not in the league of leaders who disrespect and insult their predecessors.

Expressing displeasure that Akwa Ibom people do not celebrate their leaders until they exit office, the governor said every leader the state has produced performed to the best of their ability during their tenure.

Speaking at the weekend at the Government House in Uyo during a media briefing to mark his third-year anniversary, Eno recalled that former governor, Udom Emmanuel single-handedly picked him and ensured he won the 2023 elections.

‘’Politics was not my career path, but God put me in the heart of Udom Emmanuel, he did all for me, therefore, I will not join you people to say anything about past leaders in the State. Maybe I’m not a good politician, but there are certain things i can’t do.

“But, we are trying as government to bring the dividends of democracy to our people,” he stated.

The governor who frowned at the slow pace of road construction work awarded in 2024 to some local contractors, said by July, all road projects that had not made impressive progress will be terminated.
