According to Ayuba, the owner of the goat had reported the animal missing to a vigilante in Peti village on Tuesday night.

He further said information was relayed to the vigilante team in Kwali.

He added, “One of our members in Peti village called on Tuesday night to report that a female goat belonging to a resident was missing. He advised that we inform the goat sellers’ association at the market to be on the lookout.

‘’On Wednesday, the suspect was spotted at the market with the animal. He was apprehended after the owner, who happened to be at the market, positively identified the goat.

“The owner raised the alarm which attracted a mob that pounced on the suspect. “Vigilantes were alerted and they rushed to the scene to rescue him from the crowd. We later handed him over to the police.’’

A police source at the Kwali Division confirmed the arrest.
