KENYA: Govt to Revoke Licenses of Service Providers in 10 Towns

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) will suspend the operating licenses of  29 Courier services across the country in the next seven days

In a gazette notice dated January 23, the authority noted that all the operators are national couriers and operate in major cities and towns such as Nairobi, Mombasa, Naivasha, Narok, Eldoret, Nyeri, Kitale, Machakos, Wote, and Karatina.

Some notable courier service providers include  Two NK, NNK Shuttle  Parcel Services, Safari Luxury Shuttle Limited, Prestige Courier Services Limited, and Narok Star Shuttle Sacco Services.

Others include Hapa Courier Limited, Mividama Enterprises Limited, Salvet Parcel Services Limited, Global Link Courier and Parcels Limited, and Outrival Courier Services Limited.

“As indicated above, revocation will take effect seven (7) days from the date of this publication and any resources held under these licences shall revert to the Authority upon revocation,” the notice read.

“Upon revocation of the licences, the licensees shall not be authorized to operate and provide the services as indicated in the table above,” it added.

Courier service providers focus on the delivery of parcels, documents, and goods in the country and across borders.

A courier service provider’s licences can be revoked for several reasons, primarily because of failing to meet regulatory requirements and maintain service quality.

However, other common causes include non-payment of license renewal fees, failure to meet service quality standards, and privacy and data security breaches.

The CA is the body mandated with regulating and licensing companies intending to offer courier services across the country.

It is not the first time the authority has scrapped the licenses of courier services. Last year, the authority revoked the licenses of  13 courier operators in Nairobi.

In a gazette notice dated June 13, 2025, the authority revoked the licenses of four international courier operators and nine national courier operators.
