KENYA: DCI Launches Hunt for Man Captured on CCTV in Nakuru Reverend Murder Probe

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a public appeal to help identify a person of interest linked to the ongoing murder investigation of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari of PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County.

In a statement released on Friday, June 5, the DCI published two images of the individual believed to possess information that could help detectives identify additional accomplices.

“As investigations progress, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual captured in the images below. The first image is the original photograph obtained during investigations, while the second is a digitally enhanced version generated from the original image to improve visibility of identifiable features,” the statement read.

“Both images depict the same individual, who is considered a person of interest and is believed to possess information that could significantly advance the investigation and assist in identifying additional accomplices.”

Detectives urged anyone with information that may assist in identifying the individual to report to the nearest police station or submit information anonymously through its Fichua Kwa DCI platform.

The directorate further revealed that investigations remain active, with detectives continuing to pursue fresh leads linked to the murder of the cleric that occurred on May 3.

Additionally, investigators are profiling other individuals of interest as part of efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

At the same time, the directorate provided fresh details on the progress of the case involving two suspects previously arrested in connection with the murder.

The suspects were arrested following extensive forensic analyses and intelligence-led investigations by multiple units and are linked to a notorious gang involved in a series of robberies in Nakuru.

The DCI stated that after investigations involving the pair were completed, the case file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review and legal advice.

Acting on the recommendations from the ODPP, the two suspects were arraigned before the Nakuru Law Courts, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges facing them.

The case is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on June 17 as the DCI continues efforts to identify other individuals who may have information relevant to the investigation.
