Ghana: Unity, not slogans, will return NPP to power – Minority

The Minority Caucus in Parliament asserts that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) return to power relies on unity rather than political slogans, drawing insights from the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections.

In a statement endorsed by Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority emphasised that the defeat highlighted an “invaluable lesson” that unity is the party’s essential source of strength.

“The painful 2024 electoral defeat taught us an invaluable lesson: unity is not merely a political slogan but our fundamental source of strength. History demonstrates that when the NPP presents a united front, we are formidable. Our victories in 2000, 2004, 2016, and 2020 stand as a testament to this truth,” portions of the statement read.

The Minority Caucus further urged all party structures, particularly constituency executives, polling station organisers, and grassroots volunteers across the country, from Tamale to Takoradi and Aflao to Axim, to rally behind the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The Caucus characterised the grassroots as the essential support of the NPP’s political framework and urged them to focus their efforts on enhancing party cohesion, while simultaneously ensuring that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is held responsible for its administration of the country’s matters.
