Uhuru spoke publicly during the homecoming ceremony of Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta in Narok on May 1, although he was not physically present at the event.

Instead, he addressed attendees virtually after being called by his brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, who represented him at the gathering.
In his message, Uhuru apologised for missing the event, noting that he had been looking forward to it but was forced to pull out due to illness after returning from a short trip.
“First, I would like to ask for your pardon because today was a day that I had been waiting to arrive for a long time. I had travelled for a short trip, and I returned yesterday. When I returned, I became a little bit sick, which is why I have not been able to be with you today,” he said. His voice appeared strained as he spoke, further fuelling public concern, although he did not disclose the exact nature of his condition.

He revealed that Ireri had stood by him during the tough times, even as he was also battling cancer himself.
Although he did not go into detail about the condition he was dealing with, his remarks raised concern among many Kenyans who have been closely following his well-being since he left office.
