President William Ruto has directed a further reduction of diesel prices by Ksh10 for the June to July pricing cycle to stabilise pump prices and cushion consumers.
The imminent price reduction follows an overnight consultative meeting with public transport operators over an increase in diesel and super petrol prices during the recent pump price review.
“I have directed, after consultations with leaders here from the transport sector, that in the pricing cycle, we are going to further reduce the prices of diesel by Ksh10 for June to July,” said Ruto.
Once the price revision is gazetted, diesel prices in Nairobi will retail at Ksh222.86 per litre , Kerosene at Ksh191.38 per litre and super petrol at Ksh214.25 per litre from June 15.

While addressing the press at State House in Mombasa, President Ruto assured Kenyans of adequate fuel supply in the country, reiterating his administration’s commitment to stabilising pump prices.
To further address the challenges facing the transport sector, the Head of State directed the Transport Ministry to engage financial institutions and the banking sector to provide cheaper loans for matatu owners.
The Transport Ministry was also directed to work jointly with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) to address concerns relating to insurance claims affecting transport operators.
“There is a big issue about transport operators, despite having insurance coverage, ending up paying bills when incidents occur, and insurance companies going free. This is an issue we must address,” Ruto said.
To ensure adherence to the directive by the insurance companies, the President ordered the amendment to the Insurance Act within the next 3 months.
President Ruto also directed the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to engage the transport network companies operating under the digital tax platforms to implement regulations on minimum taxi fares.
During the press, Ruto called on Kenyans to reject division, fear, and misinformation, emphasising the need for calm as Kenyans continue to express their views on national issues.
“I therefore ask all Kenyans to remain calm, patient and united, let is rejct division, fear and misinformation. While every citizen has a right to express their concerns, we must reject all forms that lead to the loss of lives, property and livelihoods,” he said.
