Okoye shines as Super Eagles draw in Poland friendly

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye had a good shine as the Nigerian side played a 2-2 draw with World Cup-bound Poland in an international friendly on Wednesday night.

Okoye put up an impressive show, keeping out the many efforts by Polish stars, led by one-time Ballon d’Or winner Robert Lewandowski.

The Nigerian team, led by Wilfred Ndidi under the management of Eric Chelle, had more of the ball overall, and showed great confidence and competence.

Terem Moffi opened scoring in the 25th minute before Kacper Potulski pegged back for the hosts just before halftime.

The Super Eagles got ahead again when Paul Onuachu converted a penalty on 77 minutes after a VAR review showed a handball in the Poland 18-yard box.

The Eagles were on the verge of making it back-to-back wins against Poland, but with few seconds left, Wisniewski volleyed home a long range shot which flew past Okoye to force the draw.

Next up for the Eagles is another friendly game against Portugal next Wednesday.
