Ogun govt dismisses rumours of terrorists’ invasion

The Ogun State government has dismissed as unfounded reports of a planned invasion of the state by terrorists and criminal groups.

The government assured residents that the state remains safe and secure.

The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Governor, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, gave the assurance in a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta.

He explained that available intelligence from security agencies indicated that Ogun remained peaceful and secure.

The governor’s side urged residents not to be misled by rumours designed to create panic.

He noted that reports circulating on social media about imminent attacks by killer herdsmen, insurgents and other criminal elements were unfounded.

According to him, security agencies across the state remains on high alert and have put adequate measures in place to prevent any threat to public peace and order.

“There is no imminent threat of invasion by any terrorist group. Security agencies and operatives across the state are vigilant and prepared,” he said.

He condemned attempts to use security incidents occurring elsewhere in the country to spread fear in Ogun State.
