He claimed that Kihika brought in outsiders who carried out those atrocities, asserting that his constituents were not responsible for the chaos.
“Nataka niulize governor wa Nakuru, wewe ni kiongozi sisi wote tunaheshimu. Madam Governor, umeleta empowerment kwa watu wa Kuresoi. Hii mabasi yote umesafirisha watu kutoka maeneo mbali, si watu wa Nakuru, si watu wa Kuresoi North, what is your agenda?” he asked. Mutai, who had reportedly gone on the run after the incident, therefore urged investigative authorities to come on board and investigate things from the ground.
He urged them not to take the information as it was fed to them and actually do the investigation themselves.
MP Mutua further claimed that his calls for tighter security before the event had been ignored, claiming that this contributed to Friday’s chaos.
He claimed that he had already warned security officials when the suspected goons started buying crude weapons in Salgaa, the day before the event, but no action was taken.
“Kama security imekuwa compromised, tunataka tuelezewe what really happened. Nini ilitendeka mpaka sisi tunakimbizwa maaskari wakituona,” he quipped. To CS Murkomen, the lawmaker urged him to look deep into the occurrences in Nakuru County and ascertain what had happened to lead to the security breach.
“Angazia macho Nakuru vizuri. We know Nakuru more than anyone else. We know mahali tumetoka. Angalia all the security apparatus; they have been compromised. Why do you compromise security to a level where we can lose lives?” Why did Kuresoi North MP Alfred Mutua go on the run? Following the chaos at the event, leaders present, including Governor Kihika and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, accused the MP of orchestrating the disruption.
Shortly after, the National Police Service (NPS) released a statement alleging that MP Alfred Mutai was on the run after shooting at the event.
“The Service is pursuing the prime suspect, Hon. Alfred Mutai, who is currently on the run. Police officers have launched a manhunt to apprehend him and other persons connected to the incident,” NPS said in a statement on Friday. Source: TUKO.co.ke
