“Do you remember Ken Isiah Moseti, once a celebrated star representing Shujaa Kenya 7, Kenya 15, KCB and other top clubs and a Nairobi School alumnus? He once had a beautiful wife, family and kids, but now lives in the streets begging. Anyone who knows him, a former colleague or friend, walk with us as we rebuild Ken’s life.” According to the well-wisher, Sifa Favour, they had rescued the former Shujaa star from the streets and were doing the little they could to help rebuild the man.
Questions have been raised about the change of fortunes for a man who once had it all.
“Sifa has taken me from the streets. What I have seen is the only reminder that there is still someone who can come to your rescue. It doesn’t have to be your mother or father. I have been in the streets for five years now. My neck hurts; today I finally have a pillow. I even know what I will eat for dinner today. I have gotten a haircut too; I’m so grateful,” Moseti said. The former rugby player took the hit during the economic recession of COVID-19, which coincided with his retirement from active sports.
His intention to go into coaching was thwarted by his admitted bad decisions.
He has candidly spoken about his detrimental drug addiction and struggles to adjust to life post-retirement, especially in the face of a pandemic.
