KENYA: Nairobi: 24-Year-Old Man Fighting Soft Tissue Sarcoma Cancer Seeks Help to Undergo Treatment

Didn’t manage to finish chemotherapyDespite the bad report, Kevin remained determined to beat the disease and completely refused to let it define him.

After the diagnosis, he was enrolled in a treatment plan at Kenyatta Hospital, where he was scheduled to undergo eight sessions of chemotherapy.

The initial rounds of chemo showed promising results, and Kevin was hopeful, however, he was unable to finish the sessions due to the high costs involved.

“I managed to take three only as financial constraints meant I couldn’t manage to finish the treatment,” he told TUKO.co.ke.Also diagnosed with brain problemDespite the setback, Kevin remained resilient and was determined to fight, so he sought out other ways to continue his treatment.

He explored all options and managed to secure funds with which he went back to the hospital and started a fresh round of treatment.

“On January 28 this year, my condition worsened and I was rushed to the hospital where some fluids were removed in my backbone,” he continued.After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with another problem – an issue in his brain. Kevin was devastated.

Kevin hopes to get medical helpAs things stand, a doctor prescribed Acyclovir IV injection 750mg for him, which is to be taken three times a day.

The injection goes for KSh 27,000 and, this is medicine I’m supposed to use for 21 days. So far, I have managed to get for 14 days, so I have a deficit of seven days which comes to KSh 189,000,” he noted.That is not all as he also needs a different budget for chemotherapy which is roughly KSh 10,000 per session.

He is hoping that a well-wisher will come forth and help him go through the treatment so that he gets over the difficult phase and rebuilds his life.
