Several people have been killed while others sustained injuries after armed bandits attacked travelers along the Gusau–Magami highway in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The attack was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Councillor representing Magami Ward, Hon. Shehu Musa.
According to the statement, the victims were travelling from Gusau to Magami when gunmen ambushed them and opened fire, resulting in multiple casualties.
The councillor expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the attack, as well as residents of Magami Ward. However, he did not provide the actual numbers of people affected.
He also called on residents to continue praying for lasting peace and an end to the insecurity affecting Zamfara State and other parts of the country.
Residents of the area have appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle recurring bandit attacks in the region.
