Arsenal FC are through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a tense 0-0 draw with Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium sealed a 1-0 aggregate win.
The Gunners controlled large spells and had the clearer chances, yet poor finishing from Eberechi Eze and stubborn Portuguese defending kept the Champions League tie alive until the final whistle.
In the end, the narrow first-leg advantage proved decisive as Arsenal moved into the last four, leaving Sporting to bow out despite a spirited display in north London.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich recorded a chaotic 4-3 win over Real Madrid in Munich, as the German side progressed 6-4 on aggregate after a dramatic night at the Allianz Arena.
Real Madrid scored inside the first minute of the Champions League encounter through Arda Güler before Aleksandar Pavlović responded quickly for Bayern.
The tie swung wildly as Harry Kane cancelled out another Güler effort and Kylian Mbappé briefly restored Madrid’s lead. Luis Díaz’s late equaliser capped a frantic finish, while Eduardo Camavinga’s red card added to Madrid’s misery.
Bayern Munich sealed their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a late goal from Michael Olise who ensured that the German Bundesliga reigning champions recorded a home and away win over Real Madrid.
