Ghana: Ofori-Atta’s US immigration case set for June 15 hearing

Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is scheduled to appear before a United States immigration court on June 15, 2026, as proceedings continue over his legal status in the country.

The hearing will take place at the Annandale Immigration Court in Virginia and is expected to be conducted virtually before Immigration Judge David A. Gardey.

Ofori-Atta was recently released from custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after being granted bail set at $65,000, allowing him temporary freedom pending the outcome of the case.

The June 15 sitting is expected to determine the next phase of proceedings, including whether he will be allowed to remain in the United States or face possible removal.

Although full details of the case have not been publicly disclosed, the development has drawn attention in Ghana due to Ofori-Atta’s role as a former Finance Minister, during which he oversaw key economic policies amid significant fiscal challenges.

The case remains ongoing, with further decisions expected following the scheduled hearing.
