INEC Declares PDP’s Nwogu Winner Of Rivers South-East Senatorial Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Rivers South-East senatorial district bye-election.

The returning officer, Professor Rosemary Ogumade, the announcement on Saturday night at the senatorial district collation centre in Bori, headquarters of Khana local government area of Rivers State.

Ogu said Nwogu satisfied all constitutional requirements and was duly elected to represent Rivers South-East senatorial district in the Senate.

“The candidates received the following votes: Douglas Fabeke, male of AA, total votes received 1175; Osarosaka Ebenezer of the APC, 1647 votes; Sam Kinani, male of LP, 367 votes; Nwogu Olaka Johnson, male of the PDP, 47,961 votes.

“That Nwogu Olaka Johnson of the PDP, having satisfied all the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” she said.

Senator Nwogu succeeds late Senator Barry Mpigi, who represented the district before his death recently.
