Her exit marks the end of a successful four-year stint in her second tenure at the station, considering she returned to the show in 2022 after the exit of Kambua.
Before then, Omondi was at the same show in 2012 and 2013 before leaving in July for studies in the US.
After her return from studies, she joined the screens in 2019, at Switch TV , where she hosted a morning lifestyle and talk show called Full Circle with Joyce.
Besides media, Omondi is also a renowned gospel singer, known for her soulful vocals and scripture-based lyrics. Her most popular songs include Conqueror, Kweli and Naamini.
While Joyce has not yet revealed her next professional destination, she stated that she is transitioning into ‘a new season and chapter in her life’.
“I will be transitioning into a new season and a new chapter in my life,” Omondi stated during the show.
Reacting to her exit, fans expressed their disappointment, while some wished her all the best in her journey.
One stated, “The first time you broke my heart was when you left the first time after your internship. Now you’re doing it again. I’m gonna miss you on the show. But I wish you all the best.”
It is worth noting that Joyce Omondi is the spouse of Waihiga Mwaura, a renowned news anchor who works for the BBC and was a former news anchor at Citizen TV.
During her farewell show, Waihiga, together with Omondi’s family, joined her at the station, surprising her with flowers and words of encouragement.
